Thailand's car sales drop in Jan-Oct 2013

BANGKOK, November 27 (TNA) - Thailand's overall vehicles sales in the first 10 months of this year stood at 1,123,268 units, with total car sale in October alone falling by nearly 40 per cent. According to Toyota Motor Thailand Senior Vice President Wuttikorn Suriyachantananon, the country's total car sale volume in the January-October 2013 period dropped for the first time by 1.8 per cent year-on-year, although sedan sales increased by 3.1 per cent year-on-year to 539,730 units. Wuttikorn said the decline of the domestic cars sales in the first 10 months of this year was due to a delay in cars delivery under the government’s first car scheme, consumers’ decisions to wait for new car models, a production cut of several car models pending the introduction of new models in the near future. Wuttikorn acknowledged Thailand’s vehicles sales volume in October 2013 fell by 37.7 per cent year-on-year, to 88,989 units, the 6th consecutive monthly decline. (TNA)
