Thailand's imports of cell phones, tablets worth over Bt650b

BANGKOK, December 21 (TNA) - The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) says imports of mobile phones and tablets into Thailand have stood more than 650 billion baht from 2009-2013, NBTC Secretary General Thakorn Tantasith told journalists that official statistics show Thailand has imported about 92.73 millions of mobile phones and tablets since 2009. Thakorn said the huge imports reflected that rising people in Thailand have been switching to using cell phones, as they can easily reach their friends and relatives in every corner and they are more convenient than public telephones According to the NBTC chief, about 90 million numbers are being used by cell phone holders across Thailand. While it is expected that most cell phone owners will use mobile phones in sending best wishes to relatives and friends during the upcoming X’Mas and New Year celebrations, the NBTC chief urged service providers to boost efficiency and telecommunication networks in order to serve their customers' rising demands.
