Thailand's mega projects to be continued
BANGKOK, November 9 (TNA) - Despite ongoing political protests against the government-proposed amnesty bill, Thai Transport Minister Chadchart Sittipunt says he believes that the government-sponsored new mega infrastructure development projects, totally worth 2.2 trillion baht, mostly in the transport sector, will be continued because they are vital to the national economic development.
Chadchart said the Thai government's new mega projects are expected to be implemented no matter which government administers the country in the future.
Chadchart made the remarks while he jointly presided over a campaign on the project with Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Kittirat Na-Ranong in Ayutthaya Province on Friday (Nov 8).
According to the transport minister, the 2.2 trillion baht investment will help make Ayutthaya become a marine transportation centre, while a high-speed train project will draw more international tourists into the central Thai province in the future. (TNA)
