Thailand's MICE business targeted to grow by 20%

BANGKOK, February 22 (TNA) - The Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) says that the country's meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) business can grow by up to 20 per cent annually in the future if innovations and advanced technologies are adopted by business operators. TCEB Senior Vice President for Strategic Business Development & Innovation Supawan Teerarat voiced the assessment in Bangkok on Friday, mentioning that Thailand's MICE business has expanded by 5-10 per cent annually so far. Supawan told journalists that to help stimulate the Thai MICE business, TCEB has worked out an updated Thai MICE business development plan over the next three years (2019-2021), comprising of six strategies and 16 projects. According to the TCEB vice president, the new Thai MICE business development plan includes a project on opening a MICE lane at Thai airports to specially welcome international MICE VIPs and another project on developing the potential of Thai MICE business operators through lauching new online channels where they can access to learn on global updates in the sector and to apply for a TCEB certificate for their standard MICE businesses that meets international criteria. "The new Thai MICE business development plan is aimed to equip MICE business operators in the country with the so-call smart data in response to the fast changing global MICE business, in which leading international business operators with higher demands have increasingly chosen Thailand and their venue.
