Thailand's new digital tourism platform introduced
BANGKOK, January 11 (TNA) - Dozens of Thailand's public and private agencies have cooperated to soon launch a digital tourism platform as a big database system where information related to the domestic tourism in all dimensions will be developed and stored to serve and facilitate international travellers, the first of its kind in Thailand and even in the world.
Tourism and Sports Minister Weerasak Kowsurat, in his capacity as the head of a Thai government task force on promoting the domestic tourism and meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE), signed an agreement in Bangkok on Friday with Kalin Sarasin, Chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce Board and the Board of Trade of Thailand, in his capacity as the head of the country's task force on the digital tourism platform, on the joint development of the digital tourism platform.
Under the agreement, 49 allied public and private agencies in Thailand, led by the Thai Ministry of Tourism and Sports and the Thai Chamber of Commerce, will set up a new Thai digital platform enterprise for the society to develop a tri-language application, named "TAGTHAI", that will be accessible through people's smart phones as of April 2019.
According to the minister, the "TAGTHAI" application, once launched for its public services, will become Thailand's first-ever big database system on the domestic tourism on the digital platform.
Besides, the "TAGTHAI" application will become the world's first-ever digital tourism platform, in which information and services related to the tourism sector in all dimensions are linked, including those on tour and accommodation reservations, restaurants and others.
The minister told journalists that the development and introduction of the "TAGTHAI" application will also represent a frog-leap step of the Thai tourism, as almost 50 public and private agencies have agreed to work together to develop and launch the innovative and comprehensive digital network to enhance the country's competitiveness on the tourism industry for its sustainable growth and the equal access to all.
The minister revealed that the "TAGTHAI" application will be developed for public services in three languages, including the Thai, the English and the Mandarin Chinese languages. (TNA)
