Thailand's SMEs urged to use e-commerce
BANGKOK, August 4 (TNA) - Deputy Commerce Minister Siriwat Kajornprasart has urged operators of Thailand's small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to adopt an e-commerce system to add values to their products and to reduce their operational costs.
Siriwat said Saturday that his ministry’s Department of Business Development has been assigned to encourage more local SME operators to use the e-commerce, after finding that the online business system has been growing at a high rate and gaining popularity among consumers.
Siriwat acknowledged that the e-commerce can also widen market and increase competitiveness for business entrepreneurs inside and outside the country.
According to the deputy minister, his ministry's Department of Business Development has issued the ‘DBD Registered’ label, which certifies that particular websites are legally registered and approved by the department in order to create confidence for both entrepreneurs and consumers.
Presently, a total of Thailand-based 10,128 websites have received the ‘DBD Registered’ from the Department of Business Development, which will also organise the DBD e-Commerce Fair at its training centre in Bangkok's suburban Nonthaburi province on August 6 to promote e-commerce businesses in the country.
