TIP report will not impact Thai export: Commerce Ministry
BANGKOK, June 28 (TNA) – The continued inclusion of Thailand in the United States’ Tier 2 Watch List in its latest Trafficking in Persons (TIP) report will have no impacts on Thai export, said Wiboolasana Ruamraksa, permanent secretary for commerce.
The Commerce Ministry maintained its target of 5% export growth this year because the prices of agricultural products were rising well, the economies of many countries were picking up, and the Commerce Ministry improved its direct marketing strategies for individual countries, she said.
Ms Wiboolasana said she was disappointed with Thailand’s ranking in the latest TIP report as Thailand’s government and private sectors were much better at solving human trafficking. The ranking should have been better this year, she said.
She commented that solutions to human trafficking in Thailand would keep improving in both government and private sectors.
