TMC Life Sciences to Increase Share of International Patients

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 28 (Bernama) --TMC Life Sciences Bhd intends to increase its share of international patients and develop a larger overall footprint in the Malaysian healthcare sector as expansion plans in Kota Damansara (Selangor) and Johor Bahru (Johor) remain its key priorities. Its chairman Professor Emeritus Dr Khalid Abdul Kadir said the medical services provider had commenced expansion of the Thomson Hospital Kota Damansara that would triple its present capacity from 205 beds to 600 beds. In Johor Bahru, piling work has started at Thomson Iskandar Medical Hub. “At the same time, we are building our capacity for infertility treatment by expanding and upgrading our fertility centres in Kota Damansara and Puchong,” said Dr Khalid in the company’s 2018 Annual Report. He added that TMC Life Sciences would continue to be prudent in its spending as it planned to grow its range of services while maintaining the highest level of medical care and patient safety. For the financial year ended Aug 31, 2018, the group’s net profit rose seven per cent to RM27.8 million, year-on-year, mainly due to the recognition of deferred tax assets in the previous year. Revenue increased 11 per cent to RM169 million, year-on-year, primarily driven by a higher patient load and higher intensity of cases handled.  The board has proposed a single-tier final dividend of 0.183 sen for the financial year ended Aug 31, 2018, subject to the approval of its shareholders at the forthcoming annual general meeting. “In deciding on the quantum, the board was mindful of the need to balance rewarding our shareholders with maintaining a suitable cash reserve position to support our two major expansion projects in Kota Damansara and Johor Bahru,” added Dr Khalid. -- BERNAMA
