Trade Volume Between Qatar and India Reaches $12 Billion

Doha, June 20 (QNA) - Qatar Chamber held Thursday a meeting with an Indian trade delegation chaired by Anmol Modi, who is head of the Fibernet Goa Exhibition. The two sides discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in the field of information technology, solar energy, mining, food products, basic materials, among other sectors. First Vice-Chairman of Qatar Chamber Mohammed bin Tawar Al Kuwari said that The State of Qatar and India have enjoyed strong bilateral ties which helped their trade volume increase 24 percent last year to reach $12.1 billion. He noted, in a speech given during today's meeting, that there are 41 fully-owned Indian companies operating in Qatar, in addition to 11,000 Qatari-Indian joint ventures. He expressed his confidence would open many opportunities for Qatari and Indian businessmen to further enhance their bilateral co-operation in many fields. He added that Qatar Chamber encourages companies from both countries to enter into partnerships that benefit both economies. For his part, head of the Indian delegation said there was a strong desire to enhance cooperation in the trade and investment fields. He invited Qatari companies to take part in Fibernet Goa event, which will take place from October 17 to October 19. He noted that Goa is visited by 5.5 million tourists every year. (QNA)
