"Traveling Fun on Weekdays" campaign 2015 launched in Bangkok
BANGKOK, May 14 (TNA) - The state-run Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has carried on its initiative campaign on encouraging travels in the Kingdom on weekdays by international tourists, apart from their holiday-tours.
TAT Deputy Governor for Domestic Marketing Anuphab Theerarat presided over the opening ceremony of this year's Traveling Fun on the Weekdays campaign at the Queen Sirikit Convention Centre in Bangkok on Thursday, themed "Changing Ordinary Days into Business Days".
Anuphab said TAT hopes that the campaign, held from May 14-17, should help stimulate Thailand's tourism and economy during the weekdays consequently, as special discounts for international visitors, up to over 50 per cent, are offered by 400 participating tourism-related businesses, about double compared with last year's event.
According to TAT statistics, Anuphab acknowledged, only about 32 per cent of Thai people have traveled on weekdays; so, TAT is promoting more travels on weekdays by people in the country to spur domestic tourism and the national economy.
According to the TAT deputy governor, this year's Traveling Fun on the Weekdays campaign is expected to attract more than 500,000 international visitors and generated over 300 domestic tourism-related revenues.
The ongoing four-day event is divided into four zones in accordance with offering prices of tourism-related services, ranging from 1,000 baht to 4,000 baht. (TNA)
