Turkey's fresh fruits & vegetables exports up


MERSIN (A.A) – August 11, 2011 – Turkey's fresh fruits and vegetables exports increased in the first seven months of 2011 when compared to the same period of 2010.
The exports increased 14 percent in terms of amount, and rose 10 percent in terms of value in the mentioned period, according to a report of Turkey Fresh Fruits & Vegetables Exporters' Association.
The association's sectoral board director Kemal Kacmaz told A.A on Thursday that they earned 1.2 billion USD by exporting 1.5 million tons of products in the first seven months of 2010. He added that they exported 1.7 million tons of products and earned 1.3 billion USD in the same period of 2011.
Kacmaz said that the sector targeted to make exports worth of 10 billion USD by 2023.
He added that most exports was made to Russia, noting that the exports to Russia increased 35 percent in terms of amount and value in the first seven months of 2011.
