Turkey's industry minister says a Turkish automotive brand will contribute to all sectors
ISTANBUL (A.A) - 14.04.2011 - The Turkish industry minister said on Thursday that creation of a Turkish automotive brand would not only contribute to the automotive sector, but also affect other sectors positively.
Turkish Industry & Trade Minister Nihat Ergun made public "Turkey Automotive Sector Strategy" during a meeting held at Istanbul's Pera Palas Hotel.
Speaking at the gathering, Ergun said he expected the strategy document to act as a guide on the way to the creation of a unique Turkish brand in the automotive sector.
"A national brand will create a synergy that encourages our people and it will not only contribute to the automotive sector, but also have positive effects on other sectors," he said.
Ergun said that the Turkish government was ready to extend all the support and take all the necessary steps in order to turn the Turkish automotive sector into a leading sector in the world.
"We invite the brands that do not have production facilities in Turkey to come to our country and manufacture their products here," the minister said.
Ergun also noted that Turkey could become a more powerful country in the global automotive sector if it developed its own automobile brand in the current period and attached more importance to design and R&D activities.
