Turkey's national air carrier posts 286 mln TL net profit in 2010
ISTANBUL (A.A) - 24.03.2011 - Turkey's national flag carrier Turkish Airlines (THY) posted 286 million Turkish lira ($183.8 million) net profit in 2010, a statement by THY said on Thursday.
The statement said that THY's passenger numbers increased 16 percent on the year to 29.1 million in 2010.
Turkish Airlines Cargo recorded 32 percent increase by carrying 314,000 tons of cargo during the year.
The Istanbul-based airlines, which is a Star Alliance member, is one of the fastest growing and prosperous carriers in the world.
THY posted 389 million Euro of profit in 2009, becoming one of the top companies, following Air China and Ryan Air, in the world that recorded the highest profit in 2009.
The statement said that THY's passenger numbers increased 16 percent on the year to 29.1 million in 2010.
