ADANA (A.A) - 29.03.2011 - A senior official from a leading Turkish tractor manufacturer said on Tuesday that Turkey's tractor market had grown by 160 percent in 2010 compared to a year earlier.
Irfan Ozdemir, Turk Traktor's Deputy Director for Sales, told AA that the market's sales had reached 36,000 in 2010 and its tendency to grow would continue in 2011.
"We believe the market will grow more than the country itself this year," he said.
Commenting on his company's sales, Ozdemir said that Turk Traktor had manufactured 29,000 tractors last year, 20,000 of which had been sold in the domestic market and 9,000 had been exported to 62 countries.
The executive said USA, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Asian countries were among purchasers of his company's products.
Ozdemir also noted that Turk Traktor's turnover had increased by 79 percent to 1.2 billion Turkish liras (TL) in 2010 in comparison to 2009.
He said the company's market share had also risen up to 51.5 percent.
Turk Traktor, established in 1954, is a joint-venture of Koc Holding, the largest industrial conglomerate of Turkey, and Case New Holland (CNH), one of the top farm equipment manufacturers worldwide. Koc Holding and CNH have equal control on the management of the company.
A leader in Turkish agricultural industry with its production, sales & export, Turk Traktor has an annual production capacity of 35,000 tractors and 25,000 engines.
