Turkish minister says banks should follow the rules set by authorized institutions

ANKARA (A.A) - 06.04.2011 - Turkish State Minister & Deputy Premier Ali Babacan said on Wednesday that all the banks in Turkey should act in accordance with the regulations and rules set by the country's authorized institutions.
Babacan held a press conference at Ankara's Esenboga Airport before leaving for Bosnia-Herzegovina where he will attend the 2nd Sarajevo Business Forum.
Upon a question on the developments in the Turkish banking sector, Babacan said, "The institutions which will make the necessary arrangements concerning the banking sector and which will set the relevant rules are known. Our banks are obliged to obey these regulations".
Babacan noted that all the banks were expected to act in line with the macroeconomic policies in practice.
Commenting on his visit to Bosnia-Herzegovina, Babacan said he would attend the 2nd Sarajevo Business Forum and later hold talks with Bakir Izzetbegovic, Bosnian member of the Tripartite Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as Bosnian foreign affairs and finance ministers during his visit.
The minister noted that bilateral relations between Turkey and Bosnia-Herzegovina and their cooperation in international platforms would be on the agenda of his talks.
