Two extended electric train tracks to be soon constructed in Bangkok

BANGKOK, October 8 (TNA) - The Thai Cabinet is expected to approve the construction of two extended electric train tracks in Bangkok by the end of this year. Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak, who oversees economic affairs, told journalists on Monday that he has ordered the Ministry of Transport to accelerate its submission of its proposed plans on the development of the two extended electric train systems, one is the extended western orange line linking the Thailand Cultural Center with Bang Khun Non area and the other is the extended southern purple line linking Tao Poon with Rat Burana areas. Somkid said the two proposed plans are among 16 new transport infrastructure development projects planned by the Ministry of Transport, including a new electric train system in resort Phuket Province in the Thai South that is expected to be approved before the new elected Thai government takes office next year and new provincial roads to support local tourism to be constructed by the ministry's Department of Rural Roads. For air transport, the deputy prime minister revealed that he has instructed the top management of Thai Airways International (THAI) to submit a reviewed plan on the national flag carrier's procurement of a new fleet of over 20 passenger planes to the Office of the National Economic and Social Development Board (NESDB) within 30 days, and to also oversee two subsidiaries of THAI's budget airlines, Nok Air and Thai Smile Air, for the sake of the integrated management of its aviation services.
