UAE Bans Export Of Indian-Origin Wheat For Four Months
NEW DELHI, June 15 (Bernama) -- The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has banned the export and re-export of Indian-origin wheat for four months, citing global trade flow issues.
The UAE wheat trade move, announced on Wednesday, is effective from May 13 – the date from which India, the world's second largest exporter of the commodity, banned wheat exports to boost its food security.
Companies wishing to export the Indian-origin wheat and wheat flour imported into the country before May 13 must obtain the ministry's permission to export outside the UAE, state news agency WAM reported.
"The Ministry of Economy explained that this decision comes in view of the international developments that have affected trade flows," WAM reported.
The Russia-Ukraine war has affected global trade in a number of commodities, including wheat, corn, and sunflower oil.
