Vocational student training for EEC
BANGKOK, Nov 23 (TNA) -- The board of the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) project allocated 861 million baht to produce teachers on targeted industries and approved a plan to train 40,000 vocational students to support investment in the EEC.
The board meeting on Wednesday chaired by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha allocated the budget to produce 150 teachers with knowledge on sciences, robots, automatic systems and information technology. Governmental organizations, companies and educational institutions will join forces in the teacher production in the next five years. The teachers are expected to educate 40,000 vocational students to support businesses in the EEC.
Kanit Saengsubhan, secretary-general of the EEC Office, said many large-scaled companies would develop a curriculum with educational institutions and apply it to selected vocational students with average grades of at least 2.5.
The students will receive allowances ranging between 5,000 and 10,000 baht, fees for four school terms and other welfare. The students who pass the curriculum which includes robotic knowledge will be employed with monthly salaries of 25,000-28,000 baht. The government planned to produce 5,000 such vocational students in the first year, Mr Kanit said. (TNA)
