Weakening greenback causes stronger Thai baht, other currencies

BANGKOK, January 16 (TNA) - The appreciation of the Thai baht and other currencies currently has been mainly caused by the weakening US dollar. Thai Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak, who oversees the national economy, told journalists of the fact on January 15, stressing that the Bank of Thailand (BOT) has closely been monitoring the updated situation. "All global economies, including the Thai economy, have been affected by the current depreciation of the greenback", said the deputy premier. (TNA)
