Weakening Malaysian Ringgit Affects Talent Sourcing - PwC
KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 27 (Bernama) -- The weakening Malaysian ringgit is affecting talent sourcing including attracting local talent overseas, an analyst said.
PwC Strategy & (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd Senior Executive Director Edward Clayton said attracting talented people had become more difficult as the country was seen as less attractive due to the weakening of the local currency.
"It is hard to persuade talented people to come to work in Malaysia when the ringgit is down," he said at the 18th Malaysia Strategic Outlook Conference 2016 here, Tuesday.
He was one of the panellists at the conference.
He said another hurdle in attracting talents to the country was the tax structure.
He said the income tax was seen by individuals as a less attractive feature for working in Malaysia.
This is in contrast with some countries in West Asia which did not implement such tax, he added.
Themed "Coping with Uncertainty-The Way Forward in Difficult Times", the one-day conference assesses the key trends, strategic challenges and critical issues facing the nation in the coming years.
PwC Malaysia is a network of firms in 157 countries with more than 208,000 people who are committed to delivering quality in assurance, tax and advisory services.
