Woqod 'Carrying Out 20 New Projects'

Doha, February 26 (QNA) - Qatar Fuel Company (Woqod) is currently implementing more than 20 new projects, the company's Vice Chairman and Managing Director said Sunday. Mohamed Turki Al Sobai gave details of the projects following the Board of Directors' meeting which convened today to discuss the financial results for the year ended December 31, 2011. Five new petrol stations at Seilea, Roda Al Hamam, Bu Fasila, Lekhdeira and Muaither are near completion and expected to be opened this year, Al Sobai said in a media statement today. The company had commissioned four petrol stations in 2011 at Al Shehaniyah, North University (Wadi Al Banat), Daayen and Mkenis. Six other projects are currently under construction in the following areas: Abu Samra, Um Thughaib, Mesaieed, Mesaieed for Trucks, Al Ruhaia and the Pear. Most of these projects are at advanced stages and expected to be commissioned during the second half of 2012. Seven expansion projects are currently taking place at Al Hilal, Dukhan, Muaither and North University, Industrial, Mesaimeer East and Al Daayen stations. Some of these expansions are already completed and the other will be finished by end of 2012. Regarding Vehicle Inspection Centers (FAHES), the statement said, "Two technical inspection centers located at Mesaimeer petrol station and North University petrol stations are under construction. Both the projects are near completion and will be operational during the half year of 2012. Woqod has signed a contract with a specialised French company to provide equipment and technology for these centres." Two Sidra services centers are currently established at the Katara Cultural Village and Qatar Foundation for providing retail services through Sidra's chain. These projects are expected to be completed in 2012. Woqod's Tower which is located at Al Dafna area is almost completed furnished. The project is expected to be commissioned during the second quarter of 2012. The product supply pipelines project is currently executed by Qatar Petroleum, on behalf of Woqod. The first phase which includes 18 inch pipe line to carry all types of petroleum products from Mesaieed Refinery to Doha Depot has been completed. The second phase which intends to supply the New Doha Airport with Jet Fuel (Jet A1) will be completed and commissioned before the opening of the New Airport, the Woqod statement said. (QNA)
