Central Committee of UAWK Calls for Waging Dynamic Emulation

Pyongyang, March 31 (KCNA) -- A meeting was held at the Wonhwa Farm in Phyongwon County on March 30 to appeal to the agricultural workers across the DPRK to wage a dynamic emulation for attaining this year's goal of grain production.

Present there were Vice-Premier Ju Chol Gyu, chairman of the Agricultural Commission, Ri Tu Song, department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Kil Sang Bong, vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Union of Agricultural Workers of Korea (UAWK), officials of relevant sectors and those of the UAWK and agricultural workers.

An appeal sent by the C.C., the UAWK to the agricultural workers across the country was read out at the meeting.

The appeal said that the present socialist emulation is a sacred struggle to devotedly implement the Party's policies by developing the country's agricultural production by dint of ideology and mass movement.

It called upon all the agricultural workers across the country to wage a vigorous socialist emulation, bearing in mind the immutable truth that rice precisely means the independent dignity and the might of building a powerful country, so as to attain this year's goal of grain production without fail and successfully attain the long-term goal of agricultural development.

It set it as another important task facing the agricultural workers at present to produce more vegetables, fruits, meat and eggs and increase the production of industrial crops in a planned way.

It called for further enhancing the responsibility and role of the UAWK organizations, and thus fully preparing all union members as the masters of the rural revolution and creators and enjoyers of modern civilization.

The C.C., the UAWK ardently appealed to the agricultural workers across the country to bring a good harvest this year, bearing deep in mind that the way for us to live well is only self-respect and self-support for bringing about the fruits of happiness with our own efforts and technology on our land.

Then, speeches were made. -0-
