E-Passport adds to Bahrain’s integrated security, digital services: Foreign Minister

Manama, Mar. 13 (BNA): Foreign Affairs Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani praised the launch of the electronic passport in accordance with the latest technical and security standards.

The minister said that it comes as an addition to the development of e-government services, in line with the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to innovation and digital transformation.

He expressed his appreciation to the Interior Minister, General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, for his support to the National Committee headed by the Undersecretary for Nationality, Passports and Residence and its representatives at the Foreign Affairs Ministry, the Transportation and Telecommunications Ministry, and the Information and eGovernment Authority.

Dr. Al Zayani expressed his pride in the e-passport, which was prepared in accordance with modern security and technical specifications that comply with the latest standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization of the United Nations.

He said that the addition would enhance services provided to citizens in travel and transportation, facilitate opportunities for obtaining and exempting visas, and raise the classification of the Bahraini passport globally.
