12th Osian’s Cinefan Film Festival Starts In N.Delhi With 5 Iranian Films

New Delhi, July 29, IRNA – With five Iranian films, the 12th Osian’s Cinefan Film Festival (OCFF) kicked off in New Delhi by the Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit. Besides Iran, 174 films from 37 participating countries of Asia and the Arab world, are being screened in the festival. The festival will see about 15 world premiers, 104 Indian and 13 Asian premiers. Films like Gangs Of Wasseypur, 2 by Anurag Kashyap, Prague by Ashish Shukla, Chitrangada by Rituparno Ghosh will be premiering at the festival. The environmental film, The Orange Suit, by Iranian filmmaker Dariush Mehrjui, will also be getting an international premier. The 12th OCFF opened at Siri Fort on Friday evening with a Japanese anime, Asura. The ten-day-long festival of Asian and Arab cinema concludes on August 5 with a screening of Rituparno Ghosh’s Chitrangada. The jury for the Asian and Arab competition consists of Iranian filmmaker Ali Mostafa; Marco Mueller, Artistic Director of the Rome Film Festival; eminent filmmaker Muzaffar Ali; Egyptian director Magdi Ahmed Ali; and American filmmaker James V Hart. The section includes twelve films from Asian and Arab cinema. The Indian jury is headed by Iranian filmmaker Hamid Dabashi, Indian director and film critic Khalid Mohammed, renowned actor Lillete Dubey, Ms Annemarie Jacir from Jordan, Afghan-born filmmaker Atiq Rahimi, and Dutch documentary filmmaker Sonia Herman Dolz.
