Azteca Eyes More Telenovelas With Malaysian Partners

From Syed Iylia Hariz Al-Qadri Syed Izman CANNES (France), Oct 15 (Bernama) -- The world's largest producer of Spanish language programming, Azteca, hopes to collaborate with the Malaysian creative industry to produce more telenovelas in the near future. Azteca International Sales Vice President Marcel Vinary Hill said he believes the new telenovela 'A Love To Remember' by Astro and Global Station could meet the demand for the global market. It is the first in a number of telenovelas to kickstart the partnership among Azteca, Astro and Global Station (both are Malaysian production companies), which signed a memorandum of understanding in April for the production of telenovelas, with Azteca responsible for their international distribution. Speaking to Bernama after launching the telenovela at the World Audio Visual Trade Exhibition (MIPCOM) here Wednesday, Hill praised the Malaysian government for supporting the creative industry, saying the country's quality productions can penetrate the global market. MIPCOM 2014, from Oct 13 to 16, is one of the biggest annual global markets for international creative content across all platforms. Secretary-general of the Communications and Multimedia Ministry, Abdul Rahim Mohamad Radzi, heads the Malaysian delegation to the MIPCOM, which includes a screening session, meetings and a conference involving 18,000 practitioners in the entertainment industry from 120 countries. --BERNAMA
