Choreographers From India To Take Part In Murfest

NEW DELHI (India), Nov 3 (Bernama) -- Two dance choreographer-cum-teachers from India will represent the country at the three-day Malaysia Urban Retreat Festival (Murfest), beginning Nov 7, the Times of India reported. Sachin Shinde and Mayur Vaidya from Nashik, Maharashtra are among artistes of different fields from various countries invited by the Malaysian Government to participate in the programme to promote cultural exchange. "Artistes from across the world will be taking part in the festival and will be teaching their art forms to the participants. "Music bands from different parts of the world will also be performing at the fest," Sachin was quoted by the English daily as saying. According to the report, the Malaysian Government invited them to participate in the programme after they conducted a survey with the help of some Indians in Malaysia, who they had taught earlier. "They observed our classes, attended our workshop and then recommended our names to the Malaysian authorities," said Sachin. According to the report, this is the first year of the festival which will include performances in yoga, dance and music from throughout the world. Among others, the duo will be teaching Indian dances, right from old Bollywood-style to dance forms like hip-hop, salsa and bachata (a for of dance) in new Bollywood-style, to the students. --BERNAMA
