Epic of King Gesar translated into Spanish

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ One of the three pillars of the Mongolian literature and culture, the Epic of King Gesar has been translated into Spanish by Dr G.Tomorchuluun, a veteran diplomat at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This epic is famous among people of Central Asia such as Mongolia, Tibet, Buryatia and Tuva, and it relates the heroic deeds of the culture hero Gesar, the fearless lord of the legendary kingdom of Ling. It is recorded variously in poetry and prose, chantfable being the style of traditional performance, and is sung widely throughout Central Asia. The first printed version was a Mongolian text published in 1716 in wood-block printing. It is regarded that the Epic of King Gesar is a brilliant pearl in the world's cultural treasure and is an important contribution made by our country to human civilization like the outstanding Greek epics, Indian epics and Kalevala. Before this work, Mr Tomorchuluun had translated the Secret History of the Mongols into Spanish in 2004, which has been published in Cuba in 10 thousand copies.
