EU Film Fest 2019 To Screen 19 Award-Winning Films

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 1 (Bernama) -- The European Union Film Festival (EUFF), which enters its 20th year this year, is back to enthral Malaysian movie fans with 19 award-winning films from across Europe. The EUFF will take place at Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) Mid Valley, GSC Pavilion KL and GSC 1 Utama from Oct 17 to 27, and GSC Gurney Plaza in Penang from Oct 31 to Nov 6. Ambassador and Head of EU delegation to Malaysia Maria Castillo Fernandez said this year’s programme is more focused, showcasing the dynamism, breadth, diversity and innovation of contemporary European cinema. “Europe has never been just one, but many cultures, languages and lifestyles. Through EUFF, we celebrate our cultural diversity. “We put culture at the centre of our international partnerships around the world, including Malaysia,” she said in a news conference to announce the EUFF 2019 at GSC Mid Valley here, Tuesday. Also present were France’s Ambassador to Malaysia Frederic Laplanche, Croatia’s Ambassador to Malaysia Kreso Galvan and Chargé d’Affaires at the Belgium Embassy in Malaysia Matthias Vanheusden. The 19 films to be screened this time are from 13 EU countries as well as two non-EU countries – Switzerland and Norway. Among the films are Stranger in Paradise (Netherlands), In the Aisles (Germany), Beside Me (Romania), King’s Choice (Norwegian), Sami Blood (Sweden) and Les Invisibles (France). This year, six films – Lada Kamenski (Croatia), Winter Flies (Czech Republic), Ailo’s Journey (Finland), The Romantic Exiles (Spain), Don’t Stop Me Now (Italy) and As Needed (Italy) – will be screened for free at all participating cinemas. Coupons for the free screenings can be downloaded or screenshot from www.euff.com.my and redeemed at the participating cinemas on a first come first serve basis. Tickets sales for EUFF movies will start from Oct 10. -- BERNAMA
