Festival Kicks Off With AIFFA Fil Biz World

KUCHING (Sarawak, Malaysia), April 9 (Bernama)— Asean International Film Festival and Awards (AIFFA) 2015 kicks off Thursday with the AIFFA Film Biz World at the Sarawak Tourism Complex here.
The programmes include the AIFFA Film Seminar and Exhibition which is being held until April 11 with an interesting line-up of international speakers dealing with a diverse range of topics.
From the CEO of Pinewood Iskandar, acting workshop to selling digital contents, an informative three days of sharing is in store.
According to the programme released by the organiser, Thierry Bleu, Mritunjay Pandey, Rezal A. Rahman, Justin Deiman, Leon Tan, Cedric Eloy and Yasu Tanaka are among the speakers.
Meanwhile the Asean-China and Asean-Korea forum which will take place Friday and Saturday include renowned film-makers, producers, directors, script-writers from China and Korea.
The topics include discussions on possible collaborations and education on further understanding of the China-Asean and Korea-Asean film market.
AIFFA movies in the rainforest, a unique 12-hour film marathon will be screened in the acclaimed Sarawak Culture Village (SVC), about 50 km from Kuching Friday starting at 6pm until 6 am.
The festival's director Livan Tajang said the films to be screened are competing and selected by a team of jury comprising top film makers in Asean.
"While enjoying the film fans will have the opportunity to meet film makers and celebrities there," said Livan.
The grand finale is the gala night at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) on April 11.
The glittering night awaits guests as celebrities announce the winners for the 14 categories of awards.
Livan said the organiser has received 60 films for the award, adding that the spectacular show ends with the spirit of Asean Award, a film that portrays the best of Asean.
Another iconic award, she said is the Lifetime Achievement Award presented to an Asean film personality who has broken the international barrier.
"The winner for the award in 2013, Michelle Yeoh will present the award to the winner and another Hollywood celebrity Jackie Chan will be among the celebrities at the gala night," added Livan.
Anuar Zain, Piolo Pascal, Dewi Liana Seriestha, Emilia Contessa, Tata Young and K.Pop group Nolza will perform live at the gala night at the main hall, while Dasha Logan who made it to number one in the UK Soul Chart will perform live at the foyer of BCCK, she said.
Meanwhile, the delegation from the Philippines together with Piolo were the earliest to arrive here Thursday followed by the Malaysian delegation and Indonesia.
Veteran singer Emilia Contessa led the Indonesian delegation while renowned film maker and actor Yusof Haslam led the Malaysian delegation.
