First Central Asian Cultural Festival Kicks off Friday in Katara

Doha, March 21 (QNA) - Cultural Village "Katara" hosts the first cultural festival for the Central Asian countries on Friday, through which a variety of dance shows and opera performances will be presented to reflect the culture of those countries. The countries participating in the festival which runs up to 28 March are Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan and the Republic of Tuva (Siberia Province of Russia), where the festival will feature a wide range of events including opera and violin performances, fashion shows, ballet, and others. The festival comes in the context of Katara's keenness to present the different civilizations and traditions. The festival is seeking to attract the lovers of music and culture from around the Arab region. The opening ceremony begins with a photography exhibition, followed by a traditional fashion show. It also includes performances of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. It is worthy to mention that the republic of Tuva is one of the least known and most curious corners of Russia. The Tuvans are nomadic pastoralists by nature Buddhist and shamanist by religion, Mongolian by cultural heritage, and Turkic by language. (QNA)
