Google Malaysia Celebrates "SuperMokh" With Doodle

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 13 (Bernama) -- In conjunction with the late Mokhtar Dahari's 61st birthday, Google Malaysia on Thursday featured one of the country's greatest football players with his very own doodle. This is a great honour for the footballer who had brought glory to Malaysia in the international arena. During the 1970s, Mokhtar played for Malaysia, which became an Asian soccer powerhouse by defeating giants such as South Korea and Japan. He was nicknamed SuperMokh because of his playing skills, strength and ability to score many incredible goals throughout his career. One of Mokhtar's famous moments was when he shook hands with Diego Maradona before a friendly game with Boca Juniors. Mokhtar scored 175 goals for Selangor, 20 goals in 13 appearances for Kwong Yik Bank, and 125 goals for Malaysia, giving a total of 320 goals in his career. Mokhtar was the all-time top scorer for both Selangor and Malaysia. He is regarded as a legend for Selangor and Malaysia. He died in July 1991 after battling with motor neurone disease (MND) for three years. A documentary, "The Untold Truth About SuperMokh", first appeared on The National Geographic channel on Aug 30, 2010. --BERNAMA
