NAM Filmmakers To Attend Upcoming Fajr Film Festival

Tehran, Dec 22, IRNA – The filmmakers of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) will take part in the upcoming 31st International Fajr Film Festival slated for February 2013. A new section titled ‘Works of NAM Filmmakers’ has been added to the 31th International Fajr film festival. “Due to Iran’s presidency over NAM for three years and also due to importance of familiarizing with NAM member-states’ cinema potentials, we deiced to add the works of NAM filmmakers to Fajr Film Festival’s international section in a bid to screen the NAM works in a separate section and in a non-competitive manner,” the international event’s secretary, Mohammad Reza Abbasian said. “NAM member-states can surely create good grounds for joint activities in the field of exchange of information and cinema experiences, joint products, educational and cultural cooperation, film and photo cultural weeks in view of their common political, economic, and cultural viewpoints,” he added. Abbasian noted that formation of an international union by artists and cinema experts of these countries can have good results. He said that establishment of a NAM Filmmakers Union will pave the way for expansion of cinema ties and exchanges. A preliminary meeting of Union of NAM Filmmakers will be held concurrent with the 31th International Fajr Film Festival in Tehran in February./end
