Theatrical Production Cavalia to Make Asian Debut in Singapore

SINGAPORE, MAY 10 (Bernama) -- Cavalia, an innovative multi-media and multi-disciplinary theatrical production created by Normand Latourelle, one of the co-founders of famed Cirque du Soleil, announces its debut tour of Asia with Singapore being the first country to host the premiere season of the show. Cavalia opens on August 12 under its signature White Theatre Tent at Bayfront Avenue beside the Sands Expo and Convention Centre. "It is an honour to bring this show, an idea that started in Canada, to a region which has such a great affinity with the performing arts and during the auspicious year of the horse as per the Chinese Zodiac," said Normand Latourelle, founder and artistic director of Cavalia. "The art of Cavalia is truly a universal language and we can't wait for Singaporeans to experience its magic," he said in statement released by organiser BASE Entertainment Asia here. Carrie Kwik, executive director of Arts, Entertainment and Integrated Resorts, Singapore Tourism Board (STB), said: "The STB is pleased that this exciting theatrical performance will make its Asian debut in Singapore. "As the show's run will also be part of the Grand Prix Season Singapore, it will add to the breadth of quality experiences the Season offers." Cavalia is a lavish production involving 50 horses and featuring 43 riders, aerialists, acrobats, dancers and musicians from all over the world. Cavalia whisks the spectator's imagination around the earth over land and sea by displaying a vast array of equestrian and performing arts. The production has been enjoyed by more than four million spectators across the world.
