Turaj Aslani Receives Asian Oscar For Best Cinematography

Tehran, Nov 26, IRNA -- The sixth annual Asia Pacific Screen Awards ceremony took place at the Queesland Performing Arts Centre in Brisbane, Australia awarded Iranian cinematographer Touraj Aslani for "Rhino Season" at the San Sebastian Film Festival for the best cinematography. He has been selected to vie at the Polish International Film Festival of the Art of Cinematography, Plus Camerimage which is held from November 24 to December 1. Aslani has been named at the festival’s nominee lineup for grabbing Golden Frog at the Main Competition section of the event. He was selected for two of his works, the Iranian film "Hatred" directed by Reza Dormishian, and a Turkish-Iraqi co-production "Rhino Season" directed by Iranian filmmaker Bahman Qobadi. Aslani competed with twelve other cinematographers listed on the lineup for this section of the festival such as competitors from Malysia, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Russia. Furthermore, Aslani has been also selected to compete for the prize of the other section, Debuts Competition, at the event. Plus Camerimage is the greatest and most recognized festival dedicated to the art of cinematography. The 2011 Silver Frog of Plus Camerimage went to Iran’s Mahmoud Kalari for the Academy Award Winning movie A Separation directed by Asghar Farhadi./end
