Clean Arctic project plans about 40 expeditions in 2022

The Clean Arctic non-governmental organization plans to organize about 40 expeditions in the current year, the organization’s Chairman Ruslan Gubaidullin said. "For this year, we have planned more than 40 expeditions to all the territories," he told the audience at the Clean Country international forum and exhibition, adding the number of expeditions would grow by eight times year-on-year. The project’s press service told TASS the organization had five expeditions in 2021. More than 2,000 volunteers participated in collecting more than 1,500 tonnes of waste - barrels, tires, plastics, wood - in nine Arctic regions. The cleanup missions were in the Murmansk, Arkhangelsk, Krasnoyarsk, Yakutia, Yamalo-Nenets, Nenets, Komi and Karelia regions. Earlier, the Ministry for Development of the Far East and Arctic’s press service forecasted the number of people, participating in the Clean Arctic projects in 2022, would double against the previous year. The list of locations, which require special attention, and which has been put together due to suggestions from the Arctic regions, contains more than 70 territories, and the number of volunteers ready to participate in the project is more than 3,000 already. The Clean Country international forum and exhibition at the Skolkovo center was organized on March 16-19. It featured more than 40 sessions. Read more
