Environmental Experts, United Nations In Talks On World Development Post 2015

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 8 (Bernama) - More than 40 environmental experts from eight South-east Asian countries and Australia are in talks with the United Nations (UN ) on World Development Post 2015. The meeting held here was to plan priorities and position the region in term of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) which will replace the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) after 2015. A Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT) statement said the experts recommended major objectives for discussion including food, agriculture, poverty, water, energy, health, gender, education and urbanisation. "The meeting will look at the global and national processes that are critical to the success of SDG including the implementation, the role of business and the role of science and technology." In addition, the meeting managed by Monash University, Australia also discussed the different needs of key sustainable development between countries and its implications for SDG. -BERNAMA
