Green Award 2013 Competition Opens to Asean Youths
PUTRAJAYA, July 30 (Bernama) -- Individuals aged 40 and below from Asean (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) are invited to join the Malaysia-China Chamber of Commerce (MCCC) and Asean Academy of Engineering & Technology (AAET) Green Award 2013.
Organising chairman of the competition, Kerk Loong Sing, said nomination starts July 30 and ends Aug 31 this year.
Kerk said the award is to recognise outstanding young green technopreneurs and contributors to green growth in the Asean region, who have made a difference to the environment or promoted sustainable development.
"After having successfully organised the Green award in 2011 and 2012, MCCC has decided to hold this award annually together with AAET this year," he told a press conference after the award's launch by Natural Resources and Environment Minister G. Palanivel here Tuesday.
Palanivel said the competition would help promote the ideas and talents of green technopreneurs from across the Asean region.
"I think this competition can also help make Malaysia a greener, healthier and sustainable place for future generations, as the country strives to ensure the growth of green technologies in the country," he said.
