MetMalaysia Denies Cold Temperature Will Hit Country

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 2 (Bernama) -- The Meteorological Department Malaysia (MetMalaysia) has denied news being spread that cold temperatures reaching 20 degrees celsius will hit the country, especially in states of Kelantan and Perak throughout this month. According to a statement issued by MetMalaysia on Monday, based on the minimum temperature experienced by the country last month, the temperature for this month is not expected to drop to 20 degrees celsius as reported in the mass media. "MetMalaysia forecast the same condition will persist until June. Generally the temperature in Malaysia's tropical climate is between 22 degrees celsius at dawn and 35 degrees celsius in the afternoon. "In fact last month's lowest temperature is higher than the record lowest temperature throughout that month,' said the statement. The department said the increase was in tandem with the initial forecast of a strong El Nino phenomenon effect that caused temperatures to rise between 1.5 and 2.0 degrees celcius.
