Tehran’s air pollution reaches unhealthy level

TEHRAN, Dec. 2 (MNA) – The director of Tehran’s Air Quality Control Company said that air pollution in the metropolis of Tehran has reached an “unhealthy” level. Yousef Rashidi said that the weather in the capital has been settled since Thursday, leading to increased air pollution. He went on to say that air pollution in Tehran has increased 30 percent in comparison to the previous week. And according to forecasts, air pollution in Tehran will increase in the coming days due to the inversion effect, Rashidi added. Thus, children and people with respiratory and heart problems should stay indoors, he advised. He also asked Tehran citizens to significantly decrease use of their private vehicles and to use the public transport system instead during the days of intense air pollution. In addition, Tehran’s emergency air pollution coordination committee held a meeting on Saturday to assess the situation.
