State of theater art

Almaty, 30 January 2008, (Khabar) - Mukhtar Kul-Mukhammed, Minister for Culture and Information of RK has met with theater artists. Such issues as the work placement of Kazakh actors abroad, repertory policy of local theatres and their interrelation with world theatrical arts and others were discussed at the Auezov Kazakh drama theatre in Almaty where the minister for culture and information Mukhtar Kul-Mukhammed met the theatre community.
The Kazakh drama theatre is the only one in the country where the playbill includes more than 30 plays per month.

Mukhtar Kul-Mukhammed, Minister for Culture and Information of RK:
- Outstanding masters, the founders of the Kazakh theatrical art all performed exactly here. The Auezov theatre will always be a leader of the local theatres. There are some issues we’re concerned about including financing the theatre’s activity and renewing the repertory. Those problems were actually discussed today at a meeting with the team.

The minister offered to invite world famous directors to Kazakhstan and added that funds won’t be the problem in this respect. The announced competition for the best play by the ministry of culture and information should solve the repertory problem, believe art figures. They enlisted the ministry’s support on conducting extensive repairs to the building of the drama theatre which requires new equipment.
Directors have also complained about not having the financial opportunity to stage costly musicals. The minister assured them that all offers have already been considered and will be passed for examination.
