“The White Cloud of Genghis Khan” floats on Tehran stage

TEHRAN,June 26(MNA) -- A play entitled “The White Cloud of Genghis Khan” was read by a Tajik director for a group of Iranian playwrights, actors and directors in Tehran on Sunday. Sultan Usmanov performed the play reading at the ECO Cultural Institute, which organized the performance. “White Cloud of Genghis Khan” is based on the eponymous novel by Chingiz Aitmatov. It features the story of the great and controversial personality. This is a play about a man and his higher mission, unpredictability of life, difficulty of making a choice, true values and great power of love that makes the world go round. “The most important issue to consider about this performance is that Mr. Usmanov reads in our language,” Iranian director Alireza Naderi said in a Q&A session held after the performance. “It is amazing that an artist from another country reads a play in our language,” he added. Masud Rayegan, Maryam Kazemi, Roya Afshar and several other Iranian actors and Iranian directors Hossein Mosafer-Astaneh, Ruhollah Jafari and Kiumars Moradi listened to the performance. Usmanov said that he was happy to have a connection with Iranian stage artists and hoped that the relationships would continue. He also said that the Soviet Union 60-year occupation of Tajikistan impacted the performing arts in the country and the arts are under the influence of the Stanislavsky System.
