“A World Not Ours” named best film at Edinburgh festival

TEHRAN,July 1(MNA) – Iranian filmmaker Mehdi Fleifel’s “A World Not Ours” has won the best film award in the international competition section of the 67th Edinburgh International Film Festival, organizers announced on Friday. The documentary “A World Not Ours” shows a personal study of family, friends, laughter, tears, hope and despair. South Korean director Bong Joon-Ho presided over the jury of this year’s festival, which was held from June 19 to 30. It gave a selection of awards to feature and short films. “Leviathan” directed by Lucien Castaing-Taylor and Véréna Paravel won the Michael Powell Award for Best British Feature Film. The Award for Best Short Film went to “GHL” by Lotte Schreiber from Austria and the McLaren Award for New British Animation was given to “Marilyn Myller” by Mikey Please.
