“Kazakh yurt” film presentation

Astana, October 10, 2009 (Khabar) - The nomads’ housing has been presented as the national image of the world. The screening of, Bakhyt Kairbekov’s film called “Kazakh yurt” has been held in Astana. The documentary shows the house of ancient nomads as well as related customs and rituals which haven’t lost their relevance today. This work by a famous Kazakhstani documentary film maker was appraised not only in Kazakhstan. The film has already become a prize winner at the annual “Laurel branch” award in Russia and received a certificate at the Eurasian TV forum. The theme of the national housing is not new for the author. In the course of the last 10 years, Bakhyt Kairbekov has turned to one of the leading elements of the household of nomads numerous times and shot several documentary films. However, he finds new traits of the regular dwelling of ancient Kazakhs every time he turns to it.

- A yurt is an eternal mystery to me. It’s like a certain super-space with plenty of symbols, images related to space and some program for the future. Therefore, I believe that it’s an infinite theme.
