“Little Prince” to raise funds for poor students in Tabriz

TEHRAN,June 23(MNA)-- An Iranian troupe is scheduled to perform “The Little Prince” at the Shams Hall in Tabriz on June 24 and 25 to raise funds for poor school children in the city of East Azerbaijan Province. Hamed Riahi will direct the performances during the charity program, which has been organized with the help of the Farda-ye Behtar Charity Institute and a group of students from Sahand University. French aviator Antoine de Saint-Exupéry wrote “The Little Prince” while living in the United States. The novella is about a downed pilot in the Sahara Desert, frantically trying to repair his wrecked plane. His efforts are interrupted one day by the apparition of a little prince, who asks him to draw a sheep. Published in 1943, the book has been read by millions of children in more than a hundred languages. It is also read by adults for its allegorical meaning. Several Persian translations of “The Little Prince” including those by Abolhassan Najafi, Mohammad Qazi, Ahmad Shamlu and Delara Qahraman have previously been published in Iran.
