BANGKOK, Feb 22 (TNA) – The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) kicked off the “Painting Bangkok” campaign on Khao San Road, backpackers’ haven in the city’s old quarter. Bangkok governor Aswin Kwanmuang presided over the launch of the campaign to repaint buildings in the capital with an aim to beautify the city with participation of Bangkok residents. It started with painting the police’s flat and buildings along Khao San Road for about 400-metre distance. Senior officials from the BMA, Phra Nakhon district and executives of the Berger Paints (Thailand) Ltd attended the activity today. The next venue will be parts of walkway along Saen Saeb canal, scheduled on Feb 28. Bangkok governor said Khao San was selected to be the pilot area as it was one of key tourist destinations. Painting project on Khao San and the Banglamphu market will be completed in March. In the meantime, all 50 districts are conducting survey in each district to hold the same activities. (TNA)
