“Two Liter by Two Liter Peace” exposes unseen wounds of war: Iranian director

TEHRAN,April 18(MNA) -- “Two Liter by Two Liter Peace” writer and director Hamidreza Azarang has said that his new play spotlights on wars’ hidden psychological wounds. The play, which brought the Best Dramatist Award for Azarang at 30th Fajr International Theater Festival this year, is currently on stage at the Chaharsu Hall of Tehran’s City Theater Complex. “This is a concern for all the people around the world and effects many people. All people live in a layer of turbulence,” Azarang told in an interview with Persian service of ILNA on Tuesday. Azarang accompanied by Nima Dehqan has two more war themed plays namely “The Cool Finale of Memory” and “Two Meter by Two Meter War” which he said that “Two Liter by Two Liter Peace” is a sequel to the latter. “I believe that ‘Two Meter in Two Meter War’ is an incomplete play regarding the time we lived in. Hence, we decided to review the consequences of war in a trilogy. However I do not have any idea about the third part yet,” he added. He said that the text of the play was revised after the festival’s performance by the Supervision and Evaluation Council of the Office for Dramatic Arts for public performance. “I believe that this play speaks a global language since the dialogues do not pertain to any particular place,” he said. Certainly, people in war torn countries are inflicted with numerous mental scares which could be dangerous if they are not healed, he said. He described war as a bitter satire. The reasons for war are mostly laughable but they can bring tears to eyes as well. Farzin Sabuni, Soheila Salehi, Ramin Sayyar-Dashti, Elham Korda, Bahram Shah-Mohammadlu and Razieh Borumand star in this play.
