10,000 In Pattani Gather To Pay Last Respects To King Bhumibol

PATTANI (Thailand), Nov 10 (Bernama) -- About 10,000 residents in Pattani, southern Thailand, gathered on Wednesday to pay their last respects to late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, who died at age 89 on Oct 13. The ceremony led by Pattani Governor Wiranant Janpeng near Pattani River in the city centre, was attended by civil servants, students and the local community. A similar event was also held in Yala city on Wednesday, in remembrance of the revered king. The late King Bhumibol, recognised as the longest-reigning monarch in the world after 70 years on the throne, died on Oct 13 at Siriraj Hospital in Bangkok after a long illness (photoBERNAMA). --BERNAMA
