100th anniversary of Toleu Basenov, founder of Kazakh architectural school
Almaty, October 02, 2009 (Khabar) - Pioneer of Kazakh architecture, master of national construction science. That's colleagues and students called the founder of the Kazakh architectural school, the first chairman of the Union of Architects of Kazakhstan, the organizer of the first republican architectural department, member-correspondent of the Academy of Architecture of the USSR, Toleu Basenov. Almaty has witnessed solemn meeting in honor of 100th anniversary of Toleu Kulshamanovich. He was the first professional architect among Kazakhs, who graduated from Leningrad Engineering and Construction Institute in 1933, faculty of architecture. Then he elaborated the general plan of Almaty, former capital of Kazakhstan. Toleu Basenov is the author, head and design consultant of 25 architectural complexes, many large buildings and structures that were constructed in Kazakhstan, Moscow and other cities of the Soviet Union. The largest of his projects are the center of Almaty and Lenin Avenue, the building of the pavilion of the Kazakh SSR at VDNH USSR in Moscow, the city public center in Aktobe. He is the author of s well-known Alatau cinema and other buildings. Nowadays the disciples of Toleu Basenov construct the new capital, Astana.

And the fact of his entering history in the early 20th century went means he was a gifted man. I can say that in the age of 26 he looked at this vast region, which is our homeland Kazakhstan, and he was able to compile and report about the problems of architecture during 1st congress of the Council of architects.
