17 Bahraini artists participate in ArtBAB in Paris Paris, Sept. 14 (BNA): 17 Bahrain fine artists participated in the Art Bahrain Across Borders (ArtBAB 2018) exhibition, held at the Grand Palais building here, in the presence of French officials, as well as prominent intellectual, literary and artistic figures from various countries. Director of the Office of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of HM the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), Shaikha Maram bint Isa Al Khalifa, said that holding the expo in Paris aims to promote the authentic and contemporary Bahraini art, as Paris is a major European city, hence easy access to other parts of Europe. This is in line with the directives of HRH Princess Sabeeka to constantly support Bahraini artists and enrich the fine art movement in the kingdom, Shaikha Maram said, lauding the great interest of artists and the media in the exhibition. Shaikha Maram expressed satisfaction with the success of ArtBAB in achieving its goals of consolidating Bahrain’s status as a regional art centre, developing Bahraini artists and enabling them to enhance their connection with various international artistic schools, which will give a world dimension to their artistic works. She pointed out that ArtBAB 2018, which was held at Cosmoscow International Contemporary Art Fair in Moscow on September 6-9, will also move from the Grand Palais to Galerie Rabouan Moussion in the French capital’s Le Marais district, and be held there from September 17 to 22. The 17 participating artists are Aysha Almoayyed, Dr. Ahmed Ahmed, Balqees Fakhro, Faika Al Hasan, Hala Kaiksow, Jamal Abdulrahim, Mayasa Alsowaidi, Mohammed Al mahdi, Nabeela Al Khayar, Omar Al Rashid, Othman Khunji, Rawan Al Hosani, Salman Najem, Shaikha Lulwa Al Khalifa, Shaikha Marwa Al Khalifa, Somaya Abdulghani and Syed Hasan Al Asari. The shows were supervised by ArtBAB Fairs and Programme Director, Kaneka Subberwal and Paris-based art consultant Corinne Timsit. ArtBAB is sponsored by Tamkeen within a three-year programme, including the holding of the fair in March every year, in addition to three international shows to promote Bahraini artists.
