170 years since making the first photo
Almaty, December 22, 2009 (Khabar) - Could a modern man live without photography? Most would answer “no”. This miracle of technology celebrated 170th anniversary this year. The history of the camera is long and fascinating. The first photo was made by the French inventor Nieps in 1826. That was view from the window of his house. But the official date of the invention still considered to be January 1839. Method for obtaining images with the help of mercury vapor on a silver plate was promulgated at that year. Opening belongs to the Frenchman Louis Dagguerre. The first cameras used to call daguerreotypes. Those who was hit by lens, was not supposed to move. Special devices help to bear such a photography. To make such a collective photo people had to stand still for half an hour. However after the improvement of the device, time reduced to 5 minutes. And special man said to people who would lie, sit or stand. In Kazakhstan, photos appeared in 1852 when daguerreotypes already became history.
Today’s small camera only vaguely resembles its progenitor, a huge tripod and a black curtain. Digital photography has left behind a film photo. The picture is simply amazes with bright colors and realistic images. Vladimir Shurgaev laughs saying fate predicted him to become a photographer as he was born on the birthday of photography.

Valery Korenchuk is the head of “Medeo” photoclub and winner of many international photographic competitions. He is called the man who stops the moment. He remembers the first Kazakhstani photographers Shakhov, Bagaev, Leibin ... Nowadays professionals and amateurs, women and children are engaged in photography. And the number of fans of this art is growing all the time.
